Location
7 ha of privately owned vineyard located at Maronia in Thraki, N. Greece. The vineyards lay on small hills, with a southwest orientation.
Soil
Granuloblastic to augen and porphyroblastic with dark, red colour.
Sub-soil
Schistose and granular.
Climate
Mild with rainy winter and favourable temperatures during spring. In the summer the north winds cool down the atmosphere. These weather conditions result in the absence of very high temperatures. There are 1.750 hours of sunshine, from April to end of October. The annual average temperature is 14,5-15,5°C

Vitivultural techniques An integrated farming system is applied. Non-irrigated vineyards. Thinning to increase fruit intensity. 2.700 plants/ha.
Harvest
End of September till mid of October. Manual harvesting.
Vinification techniques
The classical vinification for red wines. The grapes skins remain with the must for 7 days in controlled temperature. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation before ageing in casks.
Ageing In small oak casks for ar least eight months and from then on in the bottle.
Age and type of oak New, 100% French (Alier) 300L. M+
Classification Ismarikos Topikos (Regional wine).
Character An elegant wine, velvety in texture, with lots of plum and blackberry flavours, finishing with a hint of oak.
Serving suggestions Stuffed turkey, game with spicy sauces, feta and medium flavoured cheeses. Best served at 18-20°C
