C.A.I.R. has a complete
series of bottled wines in a wide variety of tastes, aiming at satisfying
all the needs of the modern, professional. The natural sparkling wines of
Rodos, that made C.A.I.R. famous, are now surrounded by many other, selected
wines, table wines, local and controlled appellation of origin. The vineyards
of the C.A.I.R. producers cover the central and western mountainous areas
of Rodos. Their altitude, soil, and orientation in combination with the several
microclimates of the island: help the production of small quantities of excellent
quality grapes.
Our aim is to make known,
through the local and international vine varieties that thrive in our island,
the special characteristics of the vineyards of Rodos, as they are expressed
through wine the vineyards of Rodos are dedicated, by 60%, to the production
of white wines which are mainly based on the Athiri variety and on the Ugni
Blanc, Muscat blanc and Muscat train varieties, to a lesser extend. The production
zone of Athiri covers the central-western mountainous slopes of Attavyros
mountain, around the villages of Apollona, Empona, Sianna, Monolithos and
Agios lsidoros. The red varieties of Amorgiano (known also as Mandilaria),
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Rouge, are developed in the northern
part of the central-western foot of Attaviros and within the arch created
by the villages Damatria-Salakos- Kritinia.
The grape-harvest in Rodos,
begins around the end of August, from the vineyards in the plain and is completed
at the end of September with the grapes from the mountainous vineyards of
Attaviros, Sianna and Monolithos, using strict criteria and with the precious
contribution of the island's producers. |
