Rodos and wine: history of 2500 years. Blessed by the Gods, the meeting of the Sun and the island of Rodos, creates ideal conditions for the cultivation of vine and the production of delighting, fine and famous wines. Aristotle praises the "Rodian wine" as one of the most well known wines for their special health and taste. Virgil nominates Rodian wine as heavenly nectar, that even the Gods enjoy its refreshing properties after each meal, satisfying even their most precious tastes and choices. Transparent and appealing in appearance, rich and refined in taste, it has quenched the thirst of praetorians and emperors, while it became very popular in Egypt ( as thousands of Rodian amphorae found there, prove this fact), equal to the primitive gifts of the Nile. Since 1928, C.A.I.R. S.A. concentrates its activities in the production and trade of Rodian wines and creates products of superior quality, with worldwide distinctions. C.A.I.R. combines the local, traditional viniculture of Rodos, the excellent grapes from selected vineyards of the island, with the artistry and the care of its producers, the modem know-how and its skilled personnel. With an annual production capacity of more than 7,000,000 liters, C.A.I.R. covers a wide range of varieties and high quality wines. The premises of C.A.I.R., are situated out of the town of Rodos, in its privately-owned vineyards, where the excellent varieties of the Rodian grapes are grown with special care and artistry. |
